En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à ses disciples : « Tenez-vous sur vos gardes, de crainte que votre cœur ne s’alourdisse dans les beuveries, l’ivresse et les soucis de la vie, et que ce jour-là ne tombe sur vous à l’improviste comme un filet ; il s’abattra, en effet, sur tous les habitants de la terre entière. Restez éveillés et priez en tout temps : ainsi vous aurez la force d’échapper à tout ce qui doit arriver, et de vous tenir debout devant le Fils de l’homme.

RÉFLEXION

« Tenez-vous sur vos gardes… Restez éveillés et priez en tout temps  »

Merci Seigneur de nous prévenir, d’être au petit soin avec nous, afin que nous ayons la force d’échapper à tout ce qui doit arriver, et de nous tenir debout devant Toi, le Fils de l’homme. Nous sommes bien conscients que Tu nous préviens par amour pour nous, et non pour nous juger ou nous commander, et nous Te remercions Seigneur. Accorde à Tes disciples choisis pour parler en Ton Nom dans le monde, la Grâce de ne pas craindre ses représailles, mais de persévérer dans leur difficile tâche.

Et Le Saint-Esprit répondit :

En effet petit coeur, « quand il n’y a pas de révélation, le peuple ne connaît aucune retenue,mais s’il respecte la loi, il est heureux. » (Proverbes 29:18)  

À présent, va vite leur dire. Je suis avec toi.

Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 21:34-36.

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “Beware that your hearts do not become weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness, and the anxieties of life, and that day catch you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Stay awake at all times, praying that you may have the strength to escape all that is about to happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

REFLECTION

“Beware that your hearts do not become weighed down… Stay awake at all times and pray.”

Thank you, Lord, for warning us, for watching over us carefully, so that we may have the strength to escape all that is about to happen and to stand before You, the Son of Man. We are well aware that You warn us out of love for us, not to judge or command us, and we thank You, Lord. Grant Your chosen disciples, who speak in Your name to the world, the grace not to fear retaliation but to persevere in their difficult task.

And the Holy Spirit replied:

Indeed, little heart, “where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.” (Proverbs 29:18)

Now go forth to tell them, I am with you.
