Évangile de Jésus-Christ selon saint Matthieu  3,1-12.

En ces jours-là, paraît Jean le Baptiste, qui proclame dans le désert de Judée :
« Convertissez-vous, car le royaume des Cieux est tout proche. »
Jean est celui que désignait la parole prononcée par le prophète Isaïe : ‘Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert : Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, rendez droits ses sentiers.’
Lui, Jean, portait un vêtement de poils de chameau, et une ceinture de cuir autour des reins ; il avait pour nourriture des sauterelles et du miel sauvage.
Alors Jérusalem, toute la Judée et toute la région du Jourdain se rendaient auprès de lui,
et ils étaient baptisés par lui dans le Jourdain en reconnaissant leurs péchés.

RÉFLEXION

« Convertissez-vous, car le royaume des Cieux est tout proche. Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, rendez droits ses sentiers.»

Cette Parole de Dieu s’est adressée aux peuples des temps premiers. Aujourd’hui elle brise le rideau du Temps, et s’adresse à nous disciples des temps derniers! Qu’allons-nous en faire?

Pour proclamer sur Terre le royaume de Dieu et pour inviter ses habitants à Le découvrir à travers la conversion et le baptême de purification, nous n’avons pas besoin d’être riches, ou être super bien instruits, ni savoir super bien parler ou être super intelligents. Nous avons seulement besoin d’avoir cette super foi qui pousse en avant, et Dieu fait le reste. Comme Il l’a fait à travers Ses prophètes, Il parlera à travers nous. Il l’avait promis, Il l’a fait, le fait, et le fera encore et toujours car Son Nom est L’Eternel !

• N’est-ce pas Ô Saint-Esprit ? Que dis-Tu? 

Et Le Saint-Esprit répondit :

En effet petit coeur, à Moïse, L’Eternel avait dit ceci : « Qui a fait la bouche de l’homme? et qui rend muet ou sourd, voyant ou aveugle? N’est-ce pas moi, l’Eternel? Va donc, je serai avec ta bouche, et je t’enseignerai ce que tu auras à dire.» (Exode 4:12) Et Moïse a entendu La Voix de Dieu et Lui a fait confiance ! Et Dieu a libéré Son peuple !

Aux ouvriers de la moisson, va leur dire cela petit cœur. Va leur dire de ne pas avoir peur de parler, et de baptiser, car aujourd’hui, tous sont riches de La Voix du Saint-Esprit grâce au sacrifice de Jésus-Christ sur la Croix et à sa résurrection d’entre les morts. Qu’ils L’invoquent en tout ce qu’ils font. Et le Dieu de la persévérance et du réconfort délivrera le pauvre qui appelle et le malheureux sans recours. Il aura souci du faible et du pauvre, du pauvre dont Il sauve la vie. (Romains 15,4-9.Psaume 72(71).

Here’s the English version of the reflection based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 3:1-12

In those days, John the Baptist appeared, proclaiming in the desert of Judea: 
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” 
John is the one foretold by the word spoken through the prophet Isaiah: ‘A voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.’ 
He wore a garment of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; his food was locusts and wild honey. 
Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and the whole region around the Jordan went out to him, 
and they were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.

REFLECTION

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near. Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.”

This Word of God was addressed to the people of the early days. Today, it breaks through the veil of Time and speaks to us, disciples of the last days! What will we do with it?

To proclaim the kingdom of God on Earth and to invite its inhabitants to discover Him through conversion and baptism of purification, we do not need to be rich, or highly educated, nor do we need to speak perfectly or be super intelligent. We only need to have that strong faith that pushes us forward, and God does the rest. Just as He did through His prophets, He will speak through us. He promised it, He has done it, He is doing it, and He will do it again and again because His Name is The Eternal!

• Isn’t that right, O Holy Spirit? What do You say?

And the Holy Spirit replied:

Indeed, little heart, to Moses, the Lord said: “Who made man’s mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go, I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak.” (Exodus 4:12) And Moses heard the Voice of God and trusted Him! And God freed His people!

To the harvest workers, tell them this, little heart. Tell them not to be afraid to speak, and to baptize, for today, all are rich with the Voice of the Holy Spirit thanks to Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross and His resurrection from the dead. Let them invoke Him in all they do. And the God of perseverance and comfort will deliver the poor who call upon Him and the helpless without recourse. He will care for the weak and the poor, the poor whose lives He saves. (Romans 15:4-9, Psalm 72(71)).
