Évangile de Jésus-Christ selon saint Matthieu 18,12-14.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à ses disciples : « Quel est votre avis ? Si un homme possède cent brebis et que l’une d’entre elles s’égare, ne va-t-il pas laisser les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres dans la montagne pour partir à la recherche de la brebis égarée ? Et, s’il arrive à la retrouver, amen, je vous le dis : il se réjouit pour elle plus que pour les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont pas égarées. Ainsi, votre Père qui est aux cieux ne veut pas qu’un seul de ces petits soit perdu. »

RÉFLEXION

Dieu, notre Père qui est aux cieux, ne veut pas qu’un seul de ces petits soit perdu. C’est pourquoi Il a choisi Son Fils bien-aimé pour veiller sur eux, être leur berger, leur sauveur. Il connait Son coeur miséricordieux! Il sait qu’Il laissera tout pour courir à leurs recherches si par malheur, ils ont succombés à la tentation du démon et se sont égarés en cours de route !

Remarquons aussi que pas une fois dans ce récit Jésus a parlé de reprocher ou de juger ces pauvres pécheurs ! Au contraire, Il parle de réjouissement quand Il les retrouve !

Notons aussi qu’Il n’attend pas qu’ils reviennent par eux-mêmes vers Lui ~ dès qu’Il remarque leurs absences, Il s’élance à leur secours. N’est-ce pas là, la preuve qu’Il est Celui qu’il faut suivre aveuglément? Celui à qui l’on doit faire appel quand on est dans la détresse ?

Que dis-Tu Ô Saint-Esprit?

Et Le Saint-Esprit répondit:

En effet petit coeur, elle a du prix aux yeux de l’Éternel, la mort de ses fidèles. * Toi tu sais combien, quand tu as fais appel à Lui quand tu étais dans la détresse, égarée, perdue, à cause de tes mauvais choix, sans tarder, sans te repocher, Il est venu à ton secours, t’a délivrée, et tu L’as honoré en Lui donnant ta vie.* Car vois-tu petit cœur : tout est pur pour ceux qui sont purs, mais rien n’est pur pour ceux qui sont souillés et incrédules; bien plus, leur intelligence et leur conscience sont souillées.* Ainsi, consoles toi car ce sont des consciences souillées qui t’ont jugée impure et t’ont condamnée, et point le coeur pur de Jésus-Christ, ton Seigneur.

Oui c’est vrai Ô Saint-Esprit ~ un coeur pur ne peut contenir de la rancune, de la vengeance, de la jalousie, de la haine, et se permettre de juger son prochain ! Merci de me l’avoir fait remarquer. C’est vrai que savoir cela m’a soulagée. Je vais donc prier Le Père de purifier le cœur de ces personnes afin  qu’elles voient combien leur âme est souillée, qu’elles se convertissent et acceptent de suivre Jésus quand Il viendra les chercher pour les ramener au Père.

Et Le Saint-Esprit ajouta :

Et Le Père aura pitié d’elles parce que tu as eu pitié d’elles !*  Il se ravisera, Il reviendra de l’ardeur de sa colère et renonçera au châtiment dont il les avait menacés ! * Va mon cœur, la conscience tranquille et l’âme légère, car je sais combien ces condamnations que tu subis, t’affectent encore. Je suis avec toi.

Here is the English translation of the Reflection based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 18:12-14:

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that one than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. In the same way, it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”

REFLECTION

God, our Father who is in heaven, does not want even one of these little ones to perish. That is why He chose His beloved Son to watch over them, to be their shepherd and their saviour. He knows His merciful heart! He knows that He will leave everything behind to run in search of them if, by unfortunate circumstances, they succumb to the demon’s temptation and go astray along the way!

Let us also notice that not once in this story does Jesus speak of reproaching or judging these poor sinners! On the contrary, He speaks of rejoicing when He finds them!

Let us also note that He does not wait for them to return to Him on their own— as soon as He notices their absence, He rushes to their aid. Is this not proof that He is the One to follow blindly? The One to whom we must call upon in times of distress?
 
What do You say, O Holy Spirit?

And the Holy Spirit replied:

Indeed, little heart, precious in the eyes of the Eternal—the death of His children. *You know how, when you called upon Him in your distress, lost and wandering because of your poor choices, He came to your rescue without delay, delivered you, and you honored Him by giving Him your life.* For you see, little heart: everything is pure for those who are pure, but nothing is pure for those who are defiled and unbelieving; even more, their understanding and conscience are stained. * So, take comfort, for it is defiled consciences that judged you as impure and condemned you, not the pure heart of Jesus Christ, your Lord.*

Yes, it is true, O Holy Spirit— a pure heart cannot harbor resentment, vengeance, jealousy, hatred, or judge his neighbor! Thank you for pointing that out to me. It is true that knowing this has brought me relief. I will therefore pray to the Father to purify the hearts of these people so that they see how defiled their souls are, that they may convert and accept to follow Jesus when He comes to fetch them and bring them back to the Father.

And the Holy Spirit added:

And the Father will have mercy on them because you had mercy on them! *He will reconsider, He will turn away from His anger, and will refrain from the punishment He had threatened them with!* 

Now go, my heart, with a clear conscience and a light soul, for I know how much these condemnations you endure still affect you. I am with you.
