Évangile de Jésus-Christ selon saint Matthieu 17,10-13.
Descendant de la montagne, les disciples interrogèrent Jésus : « Pourquoi donc les scribes disent-ils que le prophète Élie doit venir d’abord ? » Jésus leur répondit : « Élie va venir pour remettre toute chose à sa place. Mais, je vous le déclare : Élie est déjà venu ; au lieu de le reconnaître, ils lui ont fait tout ce qu’ils ont voulu. Et de même, le Fils de l’homme va souffrir par eux. » Alors les disciples comprirent qu’il leur parlait de Jean le Baptiste.
RÉFLEXION
« Élie va venir pour remettre toute chose à sa place » avait dit notre Seigneur ! De ce même Élie, il était écrit qu’il « fut préparé pour la fin des temps, afin d’apaiser la colère avant qu’elle n’éclate, afin de ramener le cœur des pères vers les fils … » (Ecclésiastique 48:10). « Heureux ceux qui te verront… », avait ajouté l’Ecclesiaste (Ecclésiastique 48:11).
Il est bon et rassurant de savoir que Dieu, même dans Sa colère, a cherché à nous sauver ! C’est pourquoi après Élie, le plus grand de Ses prophètes, c’est Son propre Fils Jésus qu’Il a envoyé pour conclure cette tâche ! Et elle le fut !
Depuis ce moment là, la race humaine croyante est certaine de deux choses : qu’elle va mourir, mais que son âme possédera la vie éternelle ! Car il est aussi écrit : « heureux ceux qui, dans l’amour, se seront endormis. » (Ecclésiastique 48:10).
En effet, Dieu est Amour ! (1 Jean 4:7) Ceux qui, après avoir vécu selon Ses Volontés, c’est à dire dans l’obéissance à se nourrir de Ses Enseignements et la fidélité à les pratiquer, meurent avec la foi qu’ils verront Dieu, sont certains d’être heureux, si non en cette vie, mais certainement dans l’autre !
N’est-ce pas Ô Saint-Esprit?
Et Le Saint-Esprit répondit:
Il est écrit : «Le juste vivra par sa fidélité.» (Habaquc 2:4)
Amen, Alléluia Alléluia Alléluia ! Merci Ô Saint-Esprit!
Biens chères sœurs et chers frères,
Celui que Dieu considère est « juste » c’est celui qui reconnaît, non seulement Sa présence sur Terre et dans sa vie, mais aussi Sa fidélité à l’aimer malgré ses manquements envers Lui. À celui-là Il promet la vie éternelle.
Père nous Te devons tout. Nous sommes cette vigne, celle qu’a plantée Ta main puissante. (Psaume 80(79) Nous ne sommes rien sans Toi, et nous reconnaissons que Tu es notre force. Pardonne-nous nos péchés et accorde nous Ton amour afin que nous puissions pardonner à ceux qui nous ont offensés. Au nom de Jésus nous te le demandons.
Et Le Saint-Esprit répondit:
« Va en paix, petit coeur, et que Dieu t’accorde ce que tu lui as demandé. » (1 Samuel 1 :17)

Reflection
Descending from the mountain, the disciples asked Jesus, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” Jesus replied, “Elijah will come to restore all things. But I tell you, Elijah has already come; they did not recognize him, but instead they did to him whatever they pleased. In the same way, the Son of Man is about to suffer at their hands.” Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.
REFLECTION
“Elijah will come to restore all things,” our Lord said! About this same Elijah, it was written that he had been prepared for the end times, to pacify the wrath before it erupts, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children… Happy are those who see you…” (Ecclesiasticus 48:10-11).
It is good and reassuring to know that God, even in His anger, has sought to save us! That is why, after Elijah, the greatest of His prophets, He sent His own Son, Jesus, to complete this task! And it was accomplished!
From that moment on, those who practise His commandements, delieverd is certain of two things: that it will die, but that its soul will possess eternal life! For it is also written: “Happy are those who fall asleep in love.” (Ecclesiasticus 48:10).
Indeed, God is Love! (1 John 4:7). Those who, after living according to His Will, that is, in obedience to feed on His Teachings and faithfully practice them, die with the faith that they will see God, are sure to be happy—if not in this life, then certainly in the next!
Isn’t that right, O Holy Spirit?
And the Holy Spirit replied:
It is written: “The righteous will live by his faith.”
(Habakkuk 2:4)
Amen, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah! Thank you, O Holy Spirit!
Dear brothers and sisters,
The one whom God considers “righteous” is the one who recognizes, not only His presence on Earth and in their life, but also His faithfulness to love them despite their shortcomings towards Him. To that person, He promises eternal life.🙏
• Father, we owe You everything. We are this vine, the one planted by Your mighty hand. (Psalm 80(79)) We are nothing without You, and we acknowledge that You are our strength. Forgive us our sins and grant us Your love so that we can forgive those who have offended us. In Jesus’ name, we ask You.
And the Holy Spirit replied:
• “Go in peace, little heart, and may God grant you what you have asked of Him.” (1 Samuel 1:17)
