En ce temps-là, comme Jésus parlait, une femme dans la foule s’écria : « Heureuse la mère qui t’a porté en elle, et dont les seins t’ont nourri ! » Alors Jésus lui déclara : «Heureux plutôt ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu et la gardent ! »

Pensez-vous un instant que Marie ait pris offense de la réponse de son fils ? Certainement pas, car elle n’était pas comme toutes les femmes sur la Terre ! Elle était la femme choisie parmi toutes pour être l’Épouse du Saint-Esprit. Dieu l’avait préparée pour cela.

Aucune femme au monde ne pouvait être la mère de La Parole de Dieu incarnée, sauf Marie de Nazareth ~  l’Immaculée Conception ~ conçue sans péché. Aucune femme autre qu’elle n’aurait pu avoir assez d’humilité pour reconnaitre qu’elle n’était que la servante de Dieu en ce Projet ; s’effacer devant Son Fils, diminuer pour que Lui grandisse en son sein, et disparaître du monde pour que seul Lui ne paraisse ! Car en elle seule Dieu avait mis toutes les qualités, capacités, vertus pour cet Accomplissement.

Un jour, en balayant la petite chapelle de La Maison, passant devant la statue de Marie que j’avais déplacée pour la mettre en évidence devant l’autel, je me suis arrêtée net, car j’avais entendu clairement ces deux mots : « mon fils » ! Je me souviens avoir levé les yeux et regardé la statue. Encore plus clairement que la première fois, j’ai entendu : « mon fils » ! Je tiens à préciser que je n’ai pas entendu une voix venant d’ailleurs, mais seulement ces deux petits mots qui me sont soudainement venus à l’esprit. C’était sa façon à elle de me dire son désir constant : que ce soit son fils qui soit en évidence, et pas elle ! Depuis ce moment, j’ai essayé de respecter son souhait : je ne l’ai pas mise en retrait bien entendu, mais sur le côté, où sa grande humilité semble plus heureuse !

Porteuse au monde dans sa chair le Verbe de Dieu, Marie de Nazareth aura toujours droit à notre profonde affection et vénération. Cependant, sa Mission a pris fin dès que Jésus a commencé à parler ! Et depuis Il n’a pas cessé, ni ne cessera-t-Il jamais ! «Seigneur, à qui irions-nous? Tu as les paroles de la vie éternelle.» (Jean 6:68)

• Et Marie ? Qu’est-ce qu’elle est devenue ?

Et le Saint-Esprit répondit :

Oh ne te fais pas de soucis pour elle petit coeur de Jésus ! Dieu a fait d’elle la beauté de Sa maison, le lieu du séjour de Sa gloire.

Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 11:27-28

At that time, as Jesus was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out: “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you!” Jesus replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

REFLEXION

Do you think for a moment that Mary was offended by her son’s response? Certainly not, because she was not like all women on Earth! She was the woman chosen above all others to be the Spouse of the Holy Spirit. God had prepared her for this.

No woman in the world could have been the mother of the Word of God made flesh, except Mary of Nazareth — the Immaculate Conception — conceived without sin. No woman other than her could have had enough humility to recognize that she was only the servant of God in this Plan; to step back before His Son, to diminish so that He might grow within her, and to disappear from the world so that only He would appear! For in her alone, God had placed all the qualities, capacities, and virtues necessary for this accomplishment.

One day, while sweeping the small chapel of the House, passing by the statue of Mary that I had moved to highlight in front of the altar, I suddenly stopped, for I clearly heard these two words: “my son.” I remember raising my eyes and looking at the statue. Even more clearly than the first time, I heard: “my son.” I want to clarify that I did not hear a voice coming from elsewhere, but only these two little words that suddenly came to mind. It was her way of telling me her constant desire: that her son be the focus, and not her! Since that moment, I have tried to respect her wish: I did not put her in the background, of course, but to the side, where her great humility seems happier!

Carrying the Word of God in her flesh, Mary of Nazareth will always deserve our deep affection and veneration. However, her Mission ended as soon as Jesus began to speak! And since then, He has never stopped, nor will He ever stop! “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68)

• And Mary? What has become of her?

And the Holy Spirit replied:

“Oh, do not worry about her, little heart of Jesus! God has made her the beauty of His house, the dwelling place of His glory.”
