Solennité du Christ, Roi de l’Univers

Évangile de Jésus-Christ selon saint Luc 23,35-43.

En ce temps-là, on venait de crucifier Jésus, et le peuple restait là à observer. Les chefs tournaient Jésus en dérision et disaient : « Il en a sauvé d’autres : qu’il se sauve lui-même, s’il est le Messie de Dieu, l’Élu ! » Les soldats aussi se moquaient de lui ; s’approchant, ils lui présentaient de la boisson vinaigrée, en disant : « Si tu es le roi des Juifs, sauve-toi toi-même ! » Il y avait aussi une inscription au-dessus de lui : « Celui-ci est le roi des Juifs. » L’un des malfaiteurs suspendus en croix l’injuriait : « N’es-tu pas le Christ ? Sauve-toi toi-même, et nous aussi ! » Mais l’autre lui fit de vifs reproches : « Tu ne crains donc pas Dieu ! Tu es pourtant un condamné, toi aussi ! Et puis, pour nous, c’est juste : après ce que nous avons fait, nous avons ce que nous méritons. Mais lui, il n’a rien fait de mal. » Et il disait : « Jésus, souviens-toi de moi quand tu viendras dans ton Royaume. » Jésus lui déclara : « Amen, je te le dis : aujourd’hui, avec moi, tu seras dans le Paradis. »

RÉFLEXION

« aujourd’hui, avec moi, tu seras dans le Paradis »

Jésus ne S’est pas sauvé Lui-même !  Ni fut-Il sauvé seul ! Jésus n’est pas entré seul au Paradis. Il avait avec Lui un malfaiteur repenti.

Ainsi est Le Coeur de notre Sauveur : fidèle à Sa Parole et miséricordieux jusqu’au bout. « Je suis venu non pour juger le monde, mais pour sauver le monde » (Jean 12:47) Si seulement l’autre malfaiteur avait pu se repentir lui aussi !

Combien de ‘malfaiteurs’ meurent à chaque instant sans s’être repentis ? Un nombre sans doute incalculable. Mais j’ose espérer que la prière des justes à l’Heure de La Miséricorde parvienne jusqu’au Bon Dieu à temps pour permettre ne serait-ce qu’à un malfaiteur de se repentir au dernier moment !

Que dis-Tu Ô Saint-Esprit?
Et Le Saint-Esprit répondit:

Tu as raison d’espérer petit coeur car souviens-toi de ce que ton Roi a dit et promis :  «Amen, je vous le dis : tout ce que vous aurez lié sur la terre sera lié dans le ciel, et tout ce que vous aurez délié sur la terre sera délié dans le ciel. Et pareillement, amen, je vous le dis, si deux d’entre vous sur la terre se mettent d’accord pour demander quoi que ce soit, ils l’obtiendront de mon Père qui est aux cieux. En effet, quand deux ou trois sont réunis en mon nom, je suis là, au milieu d’eux. » ~(Matthieu 18:18-20) De plus, « Dieu vous a placés dans le Royaume de son Fils bien-aimé : en lui vous avez la rédemption, le pardon des péchés.»(Colossiens 1:14) En priant Le Père pour la conversion des pécheurs au moment de leur mort, par le corps et le sang de Son Fils bien-aimé Jésus-Christ, vous déliez leurs liens à l’Ennemi, et vous les liez à Dieu, qui ne peut être insensible ! Un bel acte de charité en vérité, et qu’il faut continuer au Nom du Père du Fils du Saint-Esprit, Amen +

Solennity of Christ, King of the Universe

Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 23:35-43

At that time, they had just crucified Jesus, and the people remained to watch. The leaders mocked Jesus, saying, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One!” The soldiers also ridiculed him; approaching, they offered him vinegar, saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” There was also an inscription above him: “This is the King of the Jews.” One of the criminals hanging beside him insulted him, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him fiercely, saying, “Don’t you fear God, since you are under the same sentence? We are justly condemned, for we are receiving what our deeds deserve; but this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus replied, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

REFLECTION 

_”Today, you will be with me in Paradise.”_

Jesus did not save Himself! Nor was He saved alone! Jesus did not enter Paradise alone. He was with a repentant criminal. 

Such is the Heart of our Savior: faithful to His Word and merciful to the end. “I came not to judge the world, but to save the world” (John 12:47). I only wish the other criminal could have repented too!

How many ‘criminals’ die at every moment without repenting? An incalculable number, no doubt. But I dare hope that the prayer of the righteous at the Hour of Mercy reaches God in time to allow at least one criminal to repent at the last moment!

What do You say, O Holy Spirit? 
And the Holy Spirit replied:

You are right to hope, little heart, because remember what your King said and promised: “Amen, I say to you: whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:18-20) 

Moreover, “God has placed you in the Kingdom of His beloved Son; in Him you have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Colossians 1:14) By praying to the Father for the conversion of sinners especially at the moment of their death, through the body and blood of His beloved Son Jesus Christ, you loosen their bonds to the Enemy and bind them to God, who cannot  be insensible! Truly, a beautiful act of charity, and one that must continue in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen ☦️
